RBA co-director Lucy Banks, LCSW, PC, is a licensed clinical social worker who maintained a private practice in Fairfax for 30 years before relocating to Shenandoah County full time in March 2020.
Ms. Banks moved to Virginia in 1979 after growing up in southwest Michigan, graduating from Kalamazoo College, and receiving an MSW from the University of Michigan. In Virginia, she worked in public sector mental health for seven years, culminating in a supervisory role with the Prince William County Community Services Board. During this period she completed a two-year externship at the Family Therapy Institute of Washington, D.C., with Jay Haley and Cloe Madanes, and subsequently served as adjunct faculty for the Virginia Tech Marriage and Family Therapy program and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Social Work. From 2018-2020 she held a clinical faculty appointment at the George Washington University medical school.
